The Call

This week Jessica rented The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Yes, I'd already seen the movie and loved it, just like I had the first film. What caught my attention the second time around was the closing sequence with the song The Call by Regina Spektor. After listening to the song again, then buying it on iTunes and studying the lyrics, I believe Disney has crafted a masterpiece with this one. Seriously, The Call fits perfectly with the movie (which by the way is parable of our Christian walk). Listen to the song here, and think for a moment about the words not as a love song, but as a story of old. Think about the Gospel story of a God who spoke mankind into existance. A God who was living word, that became flesh, lived, died, and resurrected for us. A God who sparked a movement that history could not stop and evil could not penetrate. That's what this song is about. Now, while I doubt Disney intended that point, I am sure C.S. Lewis did with his story! Disney wrote a song to go with the movie, which did such a good job that it is inspirational to Christians who try to understand C.S. Lewis' original intent. Anyway, here's the song.... enjoy!

Scientific News! So Much We Don't Know.

As I watch the news and read the paper, I often think to myself of how far society has come and how little left there really is to discover in the universe. I mean, we are mapping DNA now and communicating instantly across borders. What in the world is there left to do? And then, I run across today's article concerning a new discovery of animals. Not just a few animals either. Rather, two species found per week, that began nearly a decade ago! Now, while I'm sure that this evidence could be used by atheists to disprove Noah's Ark, I can't help but think just how amazing God is at this time. So amazing is God that in the year 2008, we are still finding new animals. So amazing is God, that no matter how smart we get, how much we can grasp, and how long our reach has become, there is still some duck out there that we have never once laid eyes on. God is big! As I consider how big God really is, I stand amazed. Hey, read the article and see for yourself. And by the way, notice that this spider here that has just been discovered, is the size of a plate! We may be smart, but I don't see how we missed that one! Oh ya, and I bet Noah had fun when he saw that ugly thing walking towards him with its mate... God is Big!
