Sweating Bullets and Shedding Blood

It says that as Jesus prayed in the garden, his sweat drops were like blood (Luke 22:44). In the garden? Before the cross? I've never bled spontaneously, so I don't know how that works. I'm told that "hematohidrosis" is the name for what happened to Jesus, when blood passes through the sweat glands due to stress. Very strange if you ask me.

So, what makes a man start to bleed before he's ever pierced? What gets the blood flowing before he's ever beaten? Why is it that Jesus shed his blood before the cross? Maybe its just a biological way of saying that God's redemptive power would flow freely. Maybe the sweat drops of blood show us that Jesus was so willing to shed his blood, that he didn't need man's effort. This was a gift given of God. A fountain of salvation that flowed out from Jesus unto man. When Christ's blood should have rushed to his heart to sustain his strength, when Christ's blood should have stayed in his flesh to elevate his life, Jesus' blood left him prematurely. Christ's blood spontaneously gushed out of him, before the nails and the thorns and the whips and the stakes. Jesus' blood flowed free.
